Marketplace Publishing is the team that behind the creative development and publishing of the Marketplace and Neighbourhood Newsletters.

		Malcolm Dort - President With over 25 years experience in outdoor and in-house media ventures, Malcolm Dort provides a wealth of wisdom in advertising and business. Some of his ventures included a Newspaper promotion company that operated across North America causing quite a stir by giving away cars to clients and consumers. From Bus Board advertising, Guest directories for hotels, the Nepean magazine "Marketplace" and a magazine for the Nepean Chamber of Commerce, Malcolm's keen understanding of advertising and the needs of business owners inspired him to create the Marketplace and Neighbourhood Newsletters. Malcolm began his career as a boy delivering fish door to door in Nova Scotia. From humble beginnings, his drive, determination and business acumen saw to extensive traveling and a number of businesses over the years in ten different countries. the Marketplace and Neighbourhood Newsletters are the result of all the travels and years of research into the Direct Mail industry.
		Joan Dort - Office Administrator Malcolm is joined by his wife Joan who heads the administration of the business after having spent 18 years as an aesthetician with her own business. Having been a business owner herself, Joan understands the importance of advertising and the significance of it's impact in terms of budgeting.
		Daphne Pierce and Tim Skinner - P.S. Design Our creative team at P.S. Design is made up of the talented Daphne Pierce and Tim Skinner. Having worked with Malcolm for over twelve years, they bring a level of expertise and keen eye to the visual aspect of the newsletter. Their design work has helped make the Marketplace and Neighbourhood Newsletters the success that they are.
		Brian Freund - Sales, Administration, Writing,                         e-Marketing Brian comes to Marketplace with a diverse background and many talents. From his military experience, he has acquired management, administration, and speaking skills. He has been involved with tele-marketing, retail demonstrations and training activities. Having lived many years abroad, Brian is also knowledgeable of foreign cultures and is conversant in several languages besides English. He enjoys spending time with his son, reading, exercising, and music. At Marketplace Brian is active in sales, administration, writing and e-marketing.
		Peggy Vice - Writer Peggy migrated from a career as a Medical Laboratory Technologist to freelance technical and marketing writing and editing. Throughout a 30-year career spanning medical technologies, education, and technical and marketing writing, she continually communicates technical information to audiences ranging from novice to professional. Working with a range of private-sector clients, Peggy writes and edits product manuals, procedural documents, data sheets and a variety of marketing materials. Using her experience teaching Laboratory Technology, she also developed and refined course materials for the telecommunications sector. With a strong sense of community, she has held a number of positions with various professional and volunteer organizations.

Sheryl Bennett Wilson - Writer

Rock and Roll DJ, television producer - Sheryl Bennett Wilson's varied career in media in Ottawa has provided the backbone of her own writing company Words For Sale.ca. She has interviewed rock stars, sports stars, politicians and numerous everyday people with fascinating stories to tell. Her writing has included scripts for videos, press and media kits, and publicity for authors, as well as published articles on various topics. She enjoys writing about businesses in Ottawa, the owners and the entrepreneurial spirit that makes them unique.

Erica Simmonds - Writer

Erica's background in writing combined with her experience working in retail for small business owners make her a valuable asset to the Marketplace team. She has a journalism degree from the University of King's College in Halifax, and has written and edited articles for a variety of print and electronic publications for media, government, non-profit and the private sector. Born and raised in Westboro, Erica has returned to the neighbourhood after working in Toronto, travelling and teaching English in Japan.

Lynda Steele - Writer

Born in the Quebec Laurentians, Lynda has spent more than two decades living in rural Ottawa and working in the local broadcast industry. She graduated with a Journalism Honours degrees from Carleton University and started her career with a local weekly newspaper before getting into radio. She writes the occasional freelance article and has enjoyed meeting the people and writing about area businesses for the Marketplace Newsletter. She is married with three children and spends any spare time doing sports or volunteering.

Siggy Rajzman - Sales West

Siggy’s varied background includes extensive experience not only as a business owner himself but also in the field of local advertising for a collection of popular publications. As such he is a uniquely qualified member of the marketplace newsletter sales team. Understanding the needs of local business owners and the ins and outs of the advertising industry, allows Siggy to find and help companies in our communities get the exposure and business they need to thrive.

Jane Christmas

Jane started at Marketplace as Malcolm's appointment scheduler, but has subsequently added sales to her responsibilities. She has over 25 years of diverse experience in the fields of customer service, recruiting and consulting. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering, exercising, and singing.

Diane Elie

Diane Elie of DME Accounting prides herself on providing more than just top-notch accounting services to individuals and businesses like Marketplace Newsletter, but also on educating her clients and providing them with the expert advice to enhance their method of financial administration. In her accounting role and as a financial advisor, Diane’s keen mind for business has helped us to continue to grow at such a phenomenal pace.

Marianne Heinen Kits - Bookkeeper

Marianne recently joined Marketplace Publishers. She brings many years of bookkeeping and administrative experience in various types of organizations. Marianne runs her own bookkeeping company, which grew out of her desire to support small businesses. She is very pleased to be part of the team at Marketplace, a company that shares her goal of helping business owners along the path to success.

Rudy and Marny Pohl - Webmasters

Rudy and Marny Pohl joined our team in 2009 and became our official webmasters in 2010. The Pohls have 20 years experience in computing including corporate training, desktop publishing, and for the past 10 years website development and web-video production (since 2009).

Their business, WebsByU.com, was born out of a desire to empower non-technical users to update their own websites easily and quickly, thereby enabling them to use the internet to its fullest potential without having to pay professional web maintenance fees. The Pohls are long-time residents of Ottawa and are active members of the community.
